Presentation House Theatre (PHT) is committed to providing relevant, quality performance and learning experiences for young audiences from Pre-K to Grade 12.
In 2018/19 we have something to inspire young minds of all ages – from our returning favourite doughy characters in Holiday Baking Time (K-2), to a new look at Shakespeare’s magnificent and tragic love story in What If Romeo and Juliet… (Gr 4-12), the National Theatre of Iceland’s intricate puppetry in Peter and the Wolf (Gr 1+), to the legacy of veterans and remembrance in Jake’s Gift (Gr 5 – 12). In So, How Should I Be? (Gr 5+) we explore the impact social and mass media has on children’s understanding of body and self-image.
For the older students (Gr 11- 12), we’re excited to offer Tales of an Urban Indian, a deeply personal and darkly comic telling of the life of Simon Douglas, an Indigenous man born on a reserve in British Columbia in the 1970s and raised both on the reserve and the city of Vancouver. Sold out across Canada, this show is staged entirely on a moving transit bus, and will literally come pick you up at school! Mature content for mature students.
What better way to end the season than to bring home our signature production of Jack and the Magic Bean (K-3) after miles of touring to Kansas City, Mexico and more!
