The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act was emplaced to “govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in a manner that recognizes the right of privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.”
Personal Information is defined as information about an "identifiable individual." It does not include information that is commonly found in a telephone book, nor does not include the name, job title, business address or office telephone number of an employee of an organization.
Why We Collect Information
Presentation House Theatre collects personal information to communicate show and theatre information to its patrons and interested individuals. Our database of patrons and interested individuals is not traded or sold. Very occasionally, we will share names and addresses with an arts organisation that has an event associated in some way with Presentation House Theatre, so that they may send event information. We take care to make sure the information is compatible with our patron's interests and that the frequency is not unreasonable.

Storing Your Information
Our database is secured according to the PIPEDA requirements which may include “a) physical measures, for example, locked filing cabinets and restricted access to offices; b) organizational measures, for example, security clearances and limiting access on a "need-to-know" basis; and c) technological measures, for example, the use of passwords and encryption.”
Theatre Supporters
Members receive a newsletter three to four times a year and phone calls/emails/ letter mail to renew. Volunteers receive two to three emails a month plus phone calls and letter mail specific to volunteer duties. Subscribers may receive phone calls/email/lettermail to re-subscribe.
Theatre Renters
Presentation House Theatre is a rental facility. Each theatre renter may send an opening night invitation and show information to a select number of patrons. Patrons on this list, selected from the main database, include industry professionals and relevant community members.
Regular Mailouts
We send out three to four letter mailings a year. These mailouts include our flyer, which lists the coming shows, a subscription brochure, and the various flyers associated with the individual shows.
Email Updates
Our email updates are sent out once every two to three weeks, depending on show frequency. Information is more current than the regular mailout and is text-based only.
Opting In
You may phone, email, or write to us to be added to our mailing list. You may choose to be sent show information via letter mail, email, or both. If you become a donor, subscriber, member or a volunteer, your personal information goes into our database and you can choose to be on our mailing list, either regular mail or email.
Opting Out
