The Goat or,
Who is Sylvia?
Like all good literature, The Goat or, Who is Sylvia? attempts to challenge our beliefs by forcing us to look inside ourselves and evaluate our boundaries. The story focuses on a man who risks his idyllic family life and professional career by falling in love with a goat. As profoundly unsettling as that is, the subject matter is not beastiality but the irrational, confounding and convention-busting nature of love - in its many forms.
Featuring Jay Brazeau, Suzanne Ristic, Kevin McNulty & David Hurwitz
Directed by Kathryn Shaw.
February 7th to March 1st
The Three Sisters
by Anton Chekov
Chekov's classic play, The Three Sisters, has been called the most important play in Russian literature as well as the best drama of the 20th century. Others say it's simply a great play. The appeal of this Chekhovian classic lies in its depiction of the obstacles of everyday life, the universal yearning for love and the human quest for meaning, happiness and success.
Directed by Brenda Leadlay
May 15th to 31st
Bye Bye Baby
by Elyse Gasco
Bye Bye Baby was inspired by Elyse Gasco's award winning book of short stories about adoption, Can You Wave Bye Bye Baby? It is an original dramatic comedy that follows a young woman on her journey to discover the identity of her birth mother. The play's universal appeal is found in its exploration of family ties. Anyone who's lived through adolescence knows that "Who am I?" and "Where did I come from?" are not simple questions, even when one knows their biological parents. Bye Bye Baby examines the ethics of adoption and the politics of motherhood with an unconventional sense of humour, pathos and style.
Directed by Brenda Leadlay
