Leave a Legacy

Have you considered making a legacy gift to Presentation House Theatre? Your gift could make a lasting and meaningful difference to our community and could help us bring more international acclaim to the North Shore.

We recognize that sometime in your 60s or later, your focus becomes more personal. You will be thinking about what is important to you, and how you can make a difference. If you have children, they will be grown and independent. If you don’t have children perhaps you are looking for a worthy charity to support.

How can you make your generosity live on? Legacy gifts will help to further our mission of providing cutting-edge and entertaining professional theatre. Legacy opportunities could include any of the following depending on what has the most meaning for you:

  • Endowment to support creation of programming and/or new artists
  • Award to recognize theatrical achievements
  • Naming rights associated with the theatre
  • Sponsorship of plays and/or expanded theatre series
  • Contribution to capital campaign for future new facility
  • Other means of support

Fortunately, there are a number of ways you can ensure that your generosity lives on while at the same time securing the maximum possible tax benefits for your estate. With proper planning, you can maximize the benefits of your legacy to your heirs, Presentation House Theatre, and other charities you wish to support while keeping as much money as possible out of the government’s hands.

You can choose from the following charitable giving options (Note: We are happy to refer you to a qualified estate planning professional to determine which of these options are best for you):

1. Make a Bequest by Naming Presentation House as a Beneficiary – The simplest giving option is to leave a bequest in your Will. Your bequest could be money, or a gift in kind such as securities or real estate. Whatever you choose, you will be paying much less tax to the federal government thereby leaving more of your estate to give to your beneficiaries.

2. Donate a Life Insurance Policy Now to Give Generously and Enjoy Tax Credits – There are three ways to donate a policy during your lifetime. The best method will depend on your personal circumstances and goals.

3. Gifts of Insurance or Registered Plans, Made at the Time of your Death will reduce your ultimate Tax Liability – The gift is treated as a charitable donation in the year of your death.

4. Charitable Life Annuities Keep Your Gift Working for You – A charitable Gift Annuity allows you to make a charitable gift now and continue to receive a lifetime income from the assets you’ve donated, with a large portion of the income being tax free!

5. Private Foundations – A private foundation does more than ensure your generosity will live on. It can also permanently associate your name with the causes you have chosen.
