Legendary Los Angeles saxophonist, Vinny Golia, has been a major figure in the West Coast jazz and improv scenes for more than 40 years. A multi-woodwind performer, Vinny’s recordings have been consistently picked by critics and readers of music journals for their yearly “ten best” lists and he has won critic’s polls from Downbeat, Jazz Times and Cadence magazines. Jazziz Magazine named him as one of the 100 people who have influenced the course of Jazz in our Century. In 2006 The Jazz Journalists Association honoured him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Vinny has collaborated with bassist, Clyde Reed, for decades. Joining Vinny and Clyde for this rare Vancouver appearance will be Seattle drummer, Greg Campbell, and Vancouver guitarist, Jared Burrows. The group will improvise and play compositions by Golia and Burrows. This will be adventurous jazz and improvised music played with commitment and intensity in the moment.
