On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician.  Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions.  The arrival of her estranged sister and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father’s who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind, upsets Catherine even more.  Over a long week-end, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all.  How much of her father’s madness – or genius – will she inherit?

On a hot muggy day in 1892 in Fall River an unknown person took an axe and gave a number of whacks to Andrew Borden and his wife Abigail. Andrew’s youngest daughter Lizzie was acquitted of the double murder, but acquittal did nothing to dispel suspicions. Ten years later, suspicion continues to follow Lizzie wherever she goes, and when an intimate friend arrives from out of town, even she can’t help but ask: “Did you, Lizzie?”

Moonglow
Written by Kim Carney
Directed by Linda McRae

Moonglow is the story of Maxine, a feisty, bitter Alzheimer’s patient who doesn’t want to move into a nursing facility. But when she meets Joe, a widower who shares her love for dance, her outlook begins to change. Although the two clash when lucid, their hazy memories overlap, and they begin an affair that rejuvenates and fulfills them. But can these lovers – played simultaneously by an elderly twosome and a young, vivacious couple – stay together despite their families’ wishes and their fading vitality?

“These are the last few days of my childhood” – the opening line for Iris, a rather precocious girl of 10, growing up in Steveston, BC, circa 1962. She believes that the death of her pet goldfish, Amahl, puts the world during the Cuban Missile Crisis and her parents’ marriage into risk of disintegration. Soon after Amahl’s death, Iris finds a man washed up on the beach and believes he is the reincarnation of Amahl and brings him home, pinning all her hopes on his recovery.
