BRING YOUR SKILLS AND PASSION

We are always open to meeting board members from different backgrounds and skill sets who share our core values (listed at the end of this page), however we would most benefit from directors with the following skills:
- Financial Management/Bookkeeping/Accounting
- Law
- Anti-Racism and Decolonization
- Human Resources
- Local Business / Industry
- Land Development
BOARD EXPECTATIONS
As a volunteer board, we appreciate the gift of your time and have the following expectations to ensure things run as smoothly as possible:
- Obtain a Criminal Record Check
- Attend board meetings and board trainings/extra events. (6-7 board meetings per year on the first Wednesday of each month; AGM in November/December; donor and fundraising events; opening performances; anti-racism and decolonizing trainings)
- Respond to email conversations in a reasonable time frame.
- Act as an ambassador for PHT: this may include advocacy, attending meetings with stakeholders, or helping build connections to potential donors or sponsors in your network.
- Financial support: As key supporters of PHT’s mission and mandate, and so we expect that each board member would consider us among the top charities they support—with no expectation of any particular dollar amount.
Board meetings are held in-person at Presentation House Theatre with virtual attendance as-needed. Board terms are 2 years, with the option to renew up to 2 times (for a total of 3 terms, or 6 years).

ABOUT PHT
At Presentation House Theatre (PHT), we understand that THE PERFORMING ARTS are a powerful tool in creating community by building bridges and connections.
Our primary activities fall into three categories: Theatre for Young Audiences (professional, interactive, multi-sensory work for the very young); Adult Contemporary Theatre; and Community-Engaged Work with communities such seniors to students in schools to allow opportunities for communities to engage with the professional performing arts in a new way.
OUR VALUES
Shared Territory: PHT is committed to being a part of the decolonizing efforts and doing its work in a good way. We recognize and honour the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples who took care of this land from time immemorial, and we are grateful to join them as co-carers for this land and its people.
Diverse and Inclusive: Our communities, audiences, and artists are intergenerational, cross-cultural, gender diverse, international, and Indigenous to our land. We make space for broad and intersecting identities to be and to feel welcome, represented, and safe in our work, spaces, and presence.
Accessible & Welcoming: We seek to identify and remove all barriers that may prevent someone from participating in our community and programs, be they physical, financial, or otherwise.
Human Connection: Live performing arts are inherently HUMAN art forms that bring people together in shared experiences. This fact informs all our choices. At PHT we prioritize a human-first approach in our work, treating our partners, audience, artists, and staff as human beings above all else.
Safe Exploration: It is important to us that everyone feels safe at PHT. We approach all subject matter, especially the most difficult, with the utmost of care. We take care of one another and are accountable when we make mistakes.
