Ever wanted to create comedy on the spot, wear masks, and perform like a total legend? Commedia dell’Arte is a fast, fun style of theatre that inspired sitcoms, cartoons, and sketch comedy. In this high-energy masterclass, you’ll use movement, improvisation, and teamwork to build scenes in real time — no scripts, no pressure. Guided by master teacher Susan Bertoia, you’ll explore bold characters, physical comedy, and ensemble play, all leading to a lively performance where you get to show off what you’ve created together. No prior experience necessary!
Participants: This program is open to all youth 13 – 18 years (Grade 8 – 12) in the North Shore area. Having some background in theatre, dance or circus arts will elevate your experience, but is not necessary. It’s basically for anyone who has a desire to move, to play and to have fun with like-minded creatives! Masks used were created by the late, great Gina Bastone.
