A Play Reading of Comfort and Joy by award-winning writer, David King.

Presented by Off the Page in association with the PHT Creative Hub Co-operative.

Mitch has fallen for a girl, Gini, who has invited him to Christmas dinner with her family in a ritzy neighbourhood. But Mitch has always done Christmas dinner with his mother, Joy, in her modest apartment.  Gini tells Mitch to bring Joy along.  Joy is reluctant, claiming that she gets uncomfortable around people she doesn’t know, but when she shows up, she seems intent on making everyone else uncomfortable.

Off the Page

Originally inspired by playwright David King, Off the Page is a play reading series first held at the historic Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons BC in 2017.  Actors read plays written by Lower Mainland playwrights who attend the reading. Together with the cast, they open the floor to audience members for questions and comments in post-show talkback sessions. After three years of enthusiastic response from audiences, actors and playwrights, producers Wanda Nowicki and Janet Hodgkinson feel confident that expansion to Presentation House Theatre is a good move!
